this course, english and transitions, has helped in a lot of ways. anything from school work to making new friends (not derek because i dont like him at all). anyways it’s been a good experience.
transitions wise i came here with nt knowing anyone and the class did kinda help me make friends. Being from out of state and in an unfamiliar place was hard for me to get used to. i’ve been in the same city the same house the same bedroom all my life. it was definitely a change.
as far as the english class goes i feel that i have improved greatly. in high school i think i was a pretty good writer to begin with but this classs helped me to know what im doing in a deeper sense. learning about rhetoric and argument helped me improve my writing skills. in high school and still now i like to put things off until the last minute but that won’t ever change because i feel that i work better under pressure. the readings we did in class were great. they helped me to understand the world a little bit better even if that’s not what this class is for. learning about the different subcultures has helped me have a better understanding of different people. i really enjoyed the readings and learned quite a bit from them.
overall both classes were fairly helpful. i think i’ve learned a lot from both and can continue to grow on my knowledge next semester.

My revised essay is definitely going to be longer and filled with more information and personal experiences. I think the personal experiences, as Derek D-MAN French said, help people to understand or grasp the argument from my point of view. Also, in my revised draft I will work on a more interesting title and a works cited page.

For project four I ‘ve been tossing around a few different ideas. I think I have decided on doing project four on mixed race relationships compared to gay relationships. I want to make the point that they are not different and neither are “wrong”. I am going to use quotes from fellow students on their feelings and also articles to state facts.

I believe his thesis is on page 137 at the end of the third paragraph. It says: “I hope that my research will serve to dismiss these popular misconceptions about the hacker subculture, and provide background for a greater understanding of the role hackers play in cyberspace and society at large.” I think this is his thesis because it sums up what he is going to do with his essay in a whole.
The type of question he uses for his essay is definitional. He uses his piece to describe the different types of hackers. He explains that not all hackers are the stereotypical criminal kind. He uses great evidence as well. Zhu quotes Marc Rogers, a behavioral science researcher from the University of Manitoba, about hackers. Rogers goes on to say that hackers can be broken down into four different generations. (page 139) He then explains that hackers can range from kids just doing it innocently for fun to criminals who do it for all of the wrong reasons.
